Week 6: It's all about ATTITUDE!
Taken from the book, John Maxwell shares a moment with his dad concerning attitude. John had noticed that his 70 year old father was reading motivational attitude books. Questioning his father, he was given a response that speaks so much truth. John's father said the following,"Son, I have to keep working on my thought life. I am responsible to have a great attitude and to maintain it. My attitude does not run on automatic."
This week, it is time to check our attitudes. Read chapter 6. Be prepared to share what you learned! Have a great week! Pink hugs!! Angie

Week 5 Assignment: Problem Solving
Problem solving. Overcoming obstacles. Completing task. A Skin Care Class goes wrong. A customer is not satisfied with a product. An issue arises with a Team Member. All require two skills: quick thinking and critical thinking. Quick thinking skills requires two things: listening and providing a solution at that moment, that changes the course of the situation. It also requires us to use our critical thinking skills to put a plan together that will once again change the course of the situation. Whether it is a spur of the moment decision or one that requires time, we must use these skills if we are to move forward as a leader. In the movie, Remember the Titans, Coach Yoast was presented with a problem at the Northern Virginia Regional Championship game. The refs were against him. His defensive team was getting beaten. His starters were feeling defeated. One even quit in the middle of the game! Coach Yoast was even told before the game that he would be elected to the Virginia Coaches Hall of Fame, if he would do his part in losing the game. Big problem! What did he do?........
Oh yea, by the way, did I say that problem solving can also be inspirational! Never give up ladies! STOP. THINK. DO. INSPIRE! You can do it!
Your next assignment is to read chapter five in the Developing the Leader Within You book, plus do the workbook. Have a great week ladies! Look forward to talking with you next week! Pink Hugs! Angie

Week 3 Assignment: Integrity
Integrity. Powerful word. A word that can make or break a person. A word that speaks volumes concerning ones character. When Sherayah was about 6 years old we were at the local Michaels store. As we walked the isle Sherayah noticed a bunch of marbles on the floor that had fallen off the shelf. Thinking that God had blessed her with such luck she asked if she could keep them. After all she had found them. She felt they were hers. Our answer was no, and a lesson in integrity began to take place as we tried to explain to her that the marbles were the stores. Later that night when we got home I noticed that she was playing with the marbles! When Ed and I turned our backs, she picked them up anyways and stuck them in her pocket. Instead of giving her consequence right then and there, Ed got the car keys, took Sherayah by the hand and they drove off back to the store. Ed had told Sherayah that she was going to return the marbles, and she was the one going to do the talking. As tears filled my daughters eyes and the fear of what would happen, Ed continued the lesson of integrity with love and assurance. As they drove up to the parking place the store had closed and some of the workers were leaving. Ed had called one of the workers over and asked if he could talk to the manager. The manager came over and Ed said, "Mame, my daughter has something to say." With tears rolling down her checks, she pulled out the marbles and gave them to the manager and said, "I'm sorry, I took these from your store." The manager, who was on her knees, gave Sherayah the biggest hug and said "Thank you for your honesty. I forgive you." A number of years later we were out on a family outing, and Sherayah noticed some money on the ground. She picked it up. Ran to the person who dropped it and was granted a big thank you! Lesson learned.
This week your assignment is to read Chap. 3 in Developing the Leader Within You. This week we will talk about integrity. Blog how this chapter has challenged you this week.

Mary Kay always said,
Leadership is the key to growth. It starts with you! With water that is contaminated, water must come to a boil in order to begin killing the bacteria. Now is the time to turn up the heat and create a boil in our minds that kills the contamination of the areas that hinder us from moving forward. As we go through John C. Maxwell's book you will be stretched. In a speech to a group of church leaders, listen to Maxwell's word's and think how it applies to your business.
