With the Winter Olympics coming up in February, it will be 30yrs since the "Miracle on Ice". In 1980 a group of college kids took on a power house in the game of hockey, the Soviet Union. It was the 1980 Olympics. This was before the time of "dream teams". The coach, Herb Brooks, of the USA team was asked to put together a team of amateurs to go up against the world. Up to this moment, the road to the Olympics was laid with mediocrity and lack of discipline. No one counted the USA to even last the first round. Many of the other teams had professionals playing for them. Yet Herb surrounded himself with a staff that would push the team to do their best. He filled his roster with young men whom he could shape into winners.
His words and actions propelled a group of young men to do the unthinkable. By the time the Olympics came around, this USA team proved everyone wrong.
Staff development is about speaking life into those that you lead. In our business development is so important! There will be many ups and downs that your team will face, but the words you choose will either lift up or tear down your team. Remember the words of John Maxwell....Winning teams have great leaders!
Your assignment this week is to read the final chapter and blog the following. What is your strengths as a leader? make sure to fill out the evaluation and be prepared to discuss this for next Sunday night! Pink hugs! Angie
